Praying for Peace
This was hanging behind the counter in a store that we went in the other day. I didn't know which to respond to first: the fact that neither Lincoln nor Washington were known to attend church or profess to be Christians--were depicted here "laying hands" on W or the that the "painting" was titled "Praying for Peace".
What was stunning to me today was his appeal for "life" after signing legislation to protect Terri Schiavo. He said, "This is a complex case with serious issues, but in extraordinary circumstances like this, it is wisest to always err on the side of life"...unless of course that you are mentally retarded and on death row in Texas...I'm sure once A. Gonzalez wrote the legal brief, he erred on the side of life.
